Suravi Homestay is situated at at an altitude of 3700 ft at Mungpoo village in Kurseong subdivision of the Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal, India. Mungpoo is well known for its cinchona and medicinal plant cultivation. Barks of cinchona plants are used for extraction of quinine , a medical element used for curing malaria.
Mungpoo is also famous for Rabindra Bhavan, the bunglow where the World poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore came and lived here on many occasions. The house in which he lived now serves as a museum, where some of his personal effects are preserved.
Although Kanchenjunga is not visible from here, the place has a quiet charm of its own.

Dichen Sherpa Choyling Monastery, also known as Peace Pagoda is a monastery situated at the Nalidara square. This area is the main market of Mungpoo and the Monastery just above the market offers a very peaceful environment.
Tourists can trek to chatakpur , another picturesque village situated within the Sanchal Wildlife Sanctuary in Darjeeling district. This trekking trail starts from the area where Surel Bungalow is located. This used to be a beautiful British bungalow where Rabindranath had stayed during his first visit to Mungpoo, however, the bungalow was burnt down during the local political agitation several years ago. Tourist should not trek this route without a local guide as this trail goes through the dense forest.
Siksin village is just few kilometres away from Mongpoo. This is a very small and beautiful village which offers magestic veiw of the Kanchenjunga and the surrounding Mountains.
From NJP it takes about three hours to reach Suravi Homestay at Mungpoo. Distance between NJP and Mangpoo is about 60kms. From Darjeeling it takes only an hour ( 31kms away ) to reach Mangpoo.
